So much has happened that it’s hard to know where to start! After five years of growing in pots and planters, back yards and borrowed acreage, 5 and 2 Farms finally has its own land! It’s late in the season to be able to grow much this year, but we’re doing all the soil prep, planning and layout needed to get a head start in the spring of 2021. We will have some produce from the existing plantings on the property and from what we’re able to bring to maturity in the remainder of this growing season. But watch for us to really take off as soon as the weather begins to warm up next year!
At this time, we plan to be at the Suffolk, Virginia, farmers market again next spring, but we will also be able to offer seedlings online for the first time. At this time, we can’t say exactly what will be available, but keep an eye on the Ellington Everything Seedlings Facebook page for more information about that.
What’s available now? Pear butter! Laura is turning it out at a great rate in pint and half-pint jars. At this time, it’s available only locally in Suffolk, as we do not yet have online ordering set up on the website (but that is coming).
